Hi!
I’m Daniela Ionescu, primary schoolteacher and Gina’s friend. She tells me about your project. My pupils and I was very enthusiastic. My class, 3D has 25 students eager to learn English from your tales.
First, we read the book “Mommy carry me please” and we liked it very much. The children understood the message of the text – mothers always take care of their children and make sure that they have all they need or like; they understood that all the mothers in the world (of humans or animals) are alike – they love and care their babies.
Than, the children proposed improvising the other lines (mothers’ answers). It was like a role-play in pairs: one child was the mother and the other was the baby. They had a great time. For example, in a moment they wanted to put in a mother’s role, a boy, just for fun. Finally, they haven’t done that.
For the role-play they drew some pictures with animals. Also they sang some songs that they have already known: wild animals or livestock water. The last song, “The Wolf and the Five Little Rabbits”, was a kind of a musical game. Although the songs weren’t about the same animals in the story, they wanted to sing them because they liked them a lot.
The benefits from this activity were both for the children and for the teacher. We used English – reading, writing, speaking, and recycle vocabulary. Also we used a camera to make the film and the computer. We hope you’ll enjoy watching our activity!
